About
This blog is my journey through the identity, privacy, and online authentication space. Join me on my ride!
My name is Vikram Kumar and I work for the State Services Commission (SSC) which is one of the three central agencies of the New Zealand Government. My role is to help government take a strategic and innovative approach to using technology in achieving its goals, including the e-government strategy.
I also continue to work for the All-of-government Authentication Programme which means that I have a great interest in identity and privacy issues. Most of this is around the strategic direction and future services under the igovt umbrella.
This is not an “official” blog. The views expressed here are personal, they don’t represent that of the Authentication Programme, SSC, or the NZ Government. In fact, I expect that the official views and policies can and do differ from my own personal views. If you are more interested in the official views, a good starting point is the SSC blog.
This also means that I work on this blog on my own time and without using taxpayer resources. Your comments to posts are therefore very welcome and make the effort worthwhile.
Like all people in the public service, there are boundaries that I have to respect:
1. I’m bound by a Confidentiality Agreement so there will be no reference to anything that I come across at work.
2. Also, there is the Code of Conduct for State Services which specify the standards of integrity and conduct required of everyone working in the State Services.
Fair enough. The world is still big enough and the privacy / identity space wide enough to think about outside these boundaries.
Whether I succeed or not is for you to decide…
