On a day when even the skies above New Zealand wept, it is only appropriate to pause and remember a great icon. In a world where true heroes are rare, today we farewell a giant amongst them.

Sir Ed personified every quality Kiwis cherish- determination in the face of great odds, a wonderful sense of humour, compassion, humility, decency, a robust work ethic, directness, and an innate sense of fair play.

And yeah, the beekeeper did knock the bastard (Mt Everest) off.

Sir Ed

Sir Ed, rest in peace.
